Established in 1979, the Mt Barker Waldorf School is situated in beautiful grounds in a peaceful, semi-rural environment on the outskirts of Mt Barker in the Adelaide Hills, a 40 minute drive from the CBD. With a young population Mt Barker is the fastest growing municipality in South Australia and one of the fastest growing in Australia.

The School operates over all year levels from Kindergarten to Year 12 and offers a unique education based on Rudolf Steiner's philosophy of education. The School’s highest endeavour is to provide a transforming education which engenders a capacity for free ethical action, through clarity of thinking, refinement of feeling and strength of will.

Early Childhood Teacher

The teacher will work with an Educator to lead a group of mixed aged kindergarten children of 4-6 year olds.  We seek a caring, robust and talented Early Childhood teacher who can joyfully bring a Waldorf education to our school.  Experience in and understanding of the Steiner pedagogy is essential along with an interest in our bush kindy program.  The teacher must be registered or eligible to register with TRBSA.   The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work in our newly built Early Childhood classrooms and be a part of a well-established school environment with experienced colleagues.

Early Childhood Educator

The School is seeking a full time Educator to work with an experienced teacher in a group of mixed aged kindergarten children of 4-6 year olds.  We seek a caring and robust person who can joyfully support the teacher to bring a Waldorf education to our students in early childhood.  Experience in and understanding of the Steiner pedagogy is desired with an interest in our bush kindy program.  The successful applicant is required to hold a DCSI and RAN certificate. It is desirable that the successful applicant holds or study is in progress towards a Certificate III in EC Education.

Eurythmy Teacher (.4 - .6 FTE)

We are seeking a Eurythmist to teach in our Kindergarten, Primary School and possibly into the High School years.  The successful applicant needs to enjoy working with children and be registered or eligible for registration as a teacher in South Australia. Sadly, we recently lost our Eurythmist of many years and seek someone who wishes to be a part of a community with a strong commitment to bring Eurythmy alive.

Class 1 Teacher

We are looking for an experienced Waldorf teacher who can make a long term commitment to lead a large lively group of talented students through the primary years.  The successful applicant will have a passion for education and have an understanding of Steiner pedagogy and philosophy.  Training and/or experience in Waldorf pedagogy essential.  We invite you to join our experienced staff to contribute your artistic and musical talent. Applicants must be registered or eligible to be registered as a teacher in South Australia.   

Student Support Teacher (.6)

The ideal candidate will be an experienced teacher with training in special education.  You must have an ability to work with all ages and willingness to work within the pedagogy of a Waldorf education.  Training in Extra Lesson and knowledge of the Multilit programme is a plus. Qualifications that will satisfy requirements for registration as a teacher in South Australia is essential.  Must be available to work Monday to Friday.

IT Technician (.4)

The successful applicant will be experienced in supporting IT use in an educational setting.  Related qualifications including a University education and ability to problem solve with children essential.  Knowledge of a variety of software programs including PC School and Indesign a plus. You will be able to use a variety of equipment, excel at troubleshooting problems in a timely manner and patience to support adults with limited knowledge.    Must be available either two full or four half days to fulfill the requirements of the position.

Relief Teachers 

Seeking relief teachers for Early Childhood, Primary and High School.  The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge or interest in Steiner’s educational approach and experience with effective teaching methods for children and adolescents.  The ability to actively engage students through an integrated approach with skills in art and music a plus.  We are especially interested in applications from Science and Maths teachers who enjoy a practical approach.
